Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the discussions on restoration of statehood must end to fulfill the demands of people. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a special national integration camp organised by the Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh NCC Directorate in Srinagar, Omar, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, "It is good to see the discussions taking place on the restoration of statehood. But, we want the discussions on statehood to end so that the people will get what they have been demanding.” Moreover, the Chief Minister also welcomed the approval of 19 key road and tunnel projects worth Rs 10.637 crore, saying that it will give a major boost to the infrastructure development in the region. The demand for the construction of a tunnel along Mughal Road was raised ever since the road came into existence in 2008. Similarly the demand of Sadhna Top was also long-pending. These projects have now been approved and we expect some more projects like the Gurez tunnel to be approved as well,” he added. Notably, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called upon National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from across the country to serve as ambassadors of peace, unity, and harmony by sharing their positive experiences of Jammu and Kashmir with people in their home states. Addressing the NCC Special Integration Camp–2025 during a vibrant cultural event at Badami Bagh Cantonment, the Chief Minister said the presence of young cadets from different parts of the country was a “morale booster” for the people of the Valley. The 12-day camp aims to promote national integration and cultural exchange among youth. “I urge you to go back and be our ambassadors,” said the Chief Minister, who was the chief guest on the occasion. “Tell your families, friends, and communities about the Jammu and Kashmir you saw—the warmth of its people, the beauty of its culture, and the reality beyond headlines.”—(KNO)
